[he sniffs at the oreo in his hand, taking another, more careful nibble and shutting his eyes in pure watery bliss]

This ain't even cooked, it's-- candy. Cookies. I guess you got a sweet tooth.

I know what cookies are, I liked them before but I didn't know how they could taste when you're alive.

Jesus christ. Jesus christ how are you not eating this all the time?

Betelgeuse, I have like five different packages. What makes you think I'm not eating them all the time?

[he gives a joyful little laugh]

Oh, yeah.

Are these your favorite?

Some of my favorites, yeah. I really like making my own stuff too, though. Sometimes cookies, but mostly cupcakes and pastry swans.

What's a pastry swan?

[tucky]

It's a bread pastry that looks like a swan and has cream in the middle. I learned to make them here.

They sound so adorable.

They're really adorable. Mine aren't as good as Alfie's were, but I'm getting better at them. Wanna see a picture?

[She scrolls through her communicator until she finds a recent picture. Hers are definitely less professional-looking, but it's also clear that they're not her first attempt, either.]

[oh no he's starting to break down again.]

They're so beautiful. How can you eat something so beautiful?

Because they would get rotten and start to collapse and smell if we didn't.

[Such is the way of food.]

Okay. For the good of humanity I will eat this swan.

I promise you'll be the first person I tell the next time I make some. They're even better than Oreos, if I can say so myself.

Nothing could possibly be better than Oreos in the whole universe.

Betelgeuse, there is so much amazing human stuff to go along with all the bad, and you're gonna see-- uh, probably not all of it, but a lot of it.

[beejfu]

Oh no way.

The thing about there being a lot is that it ain't easy to narrow it down. And then there's, like, personal preferences, too. It kind of sounds like-- everything you felt when you were a demon is bigger now, right? Good and bad things? So whatever your favorite things were back then, you'll probably love them even more now.

[beejfu]

[his eyes widen as he takes this in, leaning back into the couch]

[It's okay BJ, let it all sink in; she'll eat Oreos as she waits.]

[he exhales sharply]

Everything is different now.

That's okay, though, right?

It's not not okay. It just....is.

You know, that makes a lot of sense. I think that's a real human thing to say.
