tucky: (you thought the Russians invaded Atlanta)
I got a question. Merlin--

[Nope, she can't do it that way. Just saying his name out loud makes her breath hitch, because even though it's just a name, it had represented something. She hadn't had to call him "Officer" or "Mister"-- he had let her call him by his given name, as if they were friends or equals. She'd thought they were friends and equals. But then he'd just told her that they weren't, and that he couldn't continue to let her think otherwise. He hadn't yelled or insulted her, but after months of being in awe over how friendly, open, and warm the wardens here were, his detached coldness had cut far worse than anger would have.

So she takes a breath and continues, her voice steady but her tone distant.]

My warden. He said he ain't gonna hang around with me so much anymore, 'cause he thinks I take advantage-- trying to get stuff, or being too friendly; I don't know. We've been real good friends in the past, I think, but he don't want that anymore. He wants to try a different way. He don't want to be my warden at all anymore, actually.

[She's trying hard to sound matter-of-fact, but in her head she's replaying every conversation she's had with or about Merlin-- every time she's given off the impression that he's overly permissive or generous, or allowed someone to believe that to be the case. With John when he'd first arrived (You want stuff? Ask the wardens.). With Mason in the infirmary (So you jus' give her everything she wants? Best of friends, you are?). While bickering with Dark (You get a warden to change your room yet? They're real nice if you're nice to them.). Countless more times besides.

It really had happened a lot.]

So I'm just wondering how that's gonna work out. Am I unpaired? Do I get someone new? Or is he gonna still be stuck with me even though he don't want me?

I got to thinking about the wardens in a way he didn't like, I guess; that's what he said the problem was. But the rest of you that I know don't seem like you mind it.

[Unless they're just humoring her. She doesn't think they are-- but then, she hadn't thought Merlin was, either.]

... Yeah. That's all.

[Behold Tiffany: sitting at the foot of the steps in the Broken Stair room, a drunk and passed-out Mason slumped next to her with his head pillowed on her shoulder. Fortunately, she looks sober herself, albeit tired and stressed. She has her arms around him and is lightly stroking his hair, more for her own comfort than for his at this point.]

We're looking to hear from some people. Merlin and Gwen, 'cause they're our wardens, but also Iris, Dillon, and Simon. I wanna know if they're okay. And Mason wants to know about Tig and, uh-- Elena? Elana? I think it was Elena. And also--

[Here she makes a face.]

Facilier. Fucking asshole.

I was also wondering if-- I mean, we don't have magic powers or nothing, and this whole place is... really, really fucked up. We came in here because it's quiet, but the stairs don't ever end, and I think there must be a better way.

So we need help. I don't know exactly where we are, but I can say it's near the bedrooms with the dead bodies, 'cause that's where I pulled him from. A lot of the stuff here seems strange and magical, so I was thinking, maybe we could just sit here until someone who--

[Suddenly one of the beams creaks extra loudly, and a spooky, etherial chattering can be heard echoing around the darkened room. Tiffany curls her fingers into the sleeve of Mason's shirt, eyeing the ceiling warily.]

... I would appreciate someone coming real soon, I think.

[spam]

[They'll be camped out there for a bit, so characters going up or down might pass them by. Feel free to stop and chat! Or glare. Or gloat.]

[OOC: Mason gets blanket rights to wake up and threadjack anywhere if Allison so chooses! This also means he could potentially hear Tiffany's side of audio/video conversations, even locked ones, so keep that in mind if you want your character to say something he shouldn't overhear.]
tucky: (Grandpa tried to use the microwave again)
I need to go to Zero. Right now.

[There's the sound of hurried footsteps in the background; she's on her way to the stairs.]

I didn't do nothing and I don't plan to, but I have gotten confirmation that the demons and dark creatures here are after me. I ain't crazy or imagining things, and I ain't looking for signs and messages when there aren't any-- I got told straight out by Doctor Facilier that I pissed 'em off and I'm a goner. I don't know if any place is safe for me now, but I heard Zero's better than most.

[She takes a moment to catch her breath; she's still half-running.]

Please let me down. I wouldn't ask if it weren't an emergency; more important than life or death. It's not my body that's at stake, it's my immortal soul.

[She turns off the public feed and records a series of private messages, partially intended to be goodbye notes if things go badly. She knows people come back from the dead-- but she doesn't know if they come back from having their souls corrupted by creatures from hell.]
