[It's Christmas, Barge residents. And as it happens, one of your new arrivals is a Christmas angel.

Well, okay, she's just dressed up as one. Interestingly enough, it was Christmas on her world too, and she just got done performing in a Christmas pageant: she's wearing a white costume robe, and has a tinsel crown on her head. The front of her robe is bloody and dirty, and torn in a few places-- and given how beat-up and damaged her face looks, it's probably safe to assume that at least some of that blood is hers.

Currently she's wandering into to common area on level 6, a bit unsteady on her feet. She's also filming herself, because she found a fancy phone so why the hell not. Soon enough she stops walking and poses dramatically, arms held wide.]

Be not afraid-- for behold, I bring good tidings of... of, uh...

[And then she collapses. So yeah, that's a thing that's happening.]

Not like that. Not like-- I ain't a real angel. Don't say that; it's blasphemy.

I'm sorry about that. [And he really does sound sorry.]

Doesn't change what I said, though. If you die here, it ends up being a huge pain in the ass. Did somebody come help you yet?

That guy up there; the new guy.

[She assumes he's a new guard at her prison, because she doesn't recognize him. Even though this place doesn't look anything like her prison, and last she remembered, she had been outside. Everything is confusing right now, and she's 98% sure it can't all be blamed on her post-fight temporary loss of consciousness and subsequent fuzzy-headedness.]

He answered my call. I got this phone...

Yeah, we all got the phones. All the new people get 'em when they show up.

[She's newer than Cambridge is; but it doesn't seem as though she quite realizes that, yet. He shifts forward to get a better look at her.]

Somebody hit you before or after you got here?

[By "new people" she assumes he means "new guards"-- she's never heard of a place that gave prisoners cell phone access.]

It ain't contraband; I didn't steal it. I just found it; that ain't my fault.

[She ignores his question for a moment, wanting to make that clear first.]

[Contraband. Well, that's a big clue. He turns the feed to private.]

I know you didn't steal it. It's for you. You don't have to give it back to anybody.

I'm stuck here, just like you.

For me?

[She sounds genuinely surprised.]

That don't...

... I don't get it.

[He grins.]

This isn't the normal kind of prison.

This ain't fancy celebrity prison, is it?

No, no. Not fancy celebrity prison. It's just, uh. A different caliber.

Here, hold on. Don't go anywhere. [His little joke.]

[He hangs up, though, and doesn't turn the video back on until he's on the deck. Then when he turns it on he's looking at his shoes. He pans up slowly, across the deck, onto the rail, and then up to the vastness of the stars.]

Only thing holding you in's the entire universe.

[Hot damn.]

It has a science museum? Like, uh, a planetarium?

No, ma'am. That would be space. The genuine article.

You don't have to believe it until you're up and can look at it yourself, of course.

Why wouldn't I believe it?

[She's assuming by "space" he means "the same space you can see when you look up at the night sky". Sure, she can't see the moon, but that probably just means the camera's pointed in the wrong direction.]

'Cause it looks like a science museum to me. They got those big domes so you can see the stars real good.

[He doesn't bother trying to explain it further. She'll see when she sees. There's no rush. After all, it's not like she's going anywhere.]

It's kinda like that. Big, all right.

There's a library, too. It's huge. There are lots of things about this place that're good. Once you're up and about again, you'll see.

Well, I ain't going anywhere right now. What else?

When's the last time you got outside?

Uh... outside, or out of prison? 'Cause I mean, we got a yard and everything.

We have better than a yard.

Not that I'm not, you know, naturally curious about the answer to the second question, but it's not really my business yet, is it?

[Maybe not, but she doesn't actually care.]

It's been a couple years. I got a reduced sentence 'cause my lawyer made a deal.

What do you have that's better than the yard?

Really. [Well, if she's sharing.] What kind of deal?

It's called the Enclosure. More space, different types of spaces. A hell of a lot more vegetation than there was in the prison yards I've seen. It's not so much like a cage.

Like a park.

Kind of like a park. Yeah.

Ain't got a very nice name, though.
