[It's Christmas, Barge residents. And as it happens, one of your new arrivals is a Christmas angel.

Well, okay, she's just dressed up as one. Interestingly enough, it was Christmas on her world too, and she just got done performing in a Christmas pageant: she's wearing a white costume robe, and has a tinsel crown on her head. The front of her robe is bloody and dirty, and torn in a few places-- and given how beat-up and damaged her face looks, it's probably safe to assume that at least some of that blood is hers.

Currently she's wandering into to common area on level 6, a bit unsteady on her feet. She's also filming herself, because she found a fancy phone so why the hell not. Soon enough she stops walking and poses dramatically, arms held wide.]

Be not afraid-- for behold, I bring good tidings of... of, uh...

[And then she collapses. So yeah, that's a thing that's happening.]

Wardens are allowed to leave, if we want to. What usually happens is, the Admiral assigns you. One warden to one inmate, and you're supposed to - watch out for them. Help them. Be there for them, but be responsible for them too, and deal with it if they cause trouble.

When they're free, the warden gets a deal. A - wish, I guess.

I don't know. One big impossible thing, usually. To save someone they love, or fix a mistake they made.

I don't really have one. All the people I would have wanting something for came here and got their own.

You can if you graduate. A lot of inmates do.

[Well....]

Not me. I was a warden to start with. Sorry.

I wanted my brother back, at first. But he was here. And now he's - he's got his own reward.

I don't know.

Yes. I'm trying to just - concentrate on my inmate now.

There's no simple list. People have different things to learn.

When you're assigned, your warden gets a file, but that's - it's about what you've done and what you've been through, not where you need to go. I don't think there's just one future the admiral would accept from anyone.

Most people who graduate - they make friends. They learn to care about other people, or to let go of hatreds that were filling them up. Or they just need to heal some destructive habits. Some will always be dangerous, but they learn reasons to hold themselves back, reasons it's worth it.

Its your warden's job to help you figure it out, but. The figuring out seems like a big part of it.

Yes. No cheats for wardens trying to get paid, either.

Not the kind that tell us the answers. The resources we have are what we're supposed to use.

[Not really argumentative; he just finds the conversation interesting.]

Sometimes wardens are made into inmates, if they get too far out of line.

[Not often enough in his opinion, but Marsh's quiet loathing of Dillon is forever off-screen for playercest reasons oops.]

The exact criteria for that are never really explained, but it happens.

The admiral does it. Nobody knows quite how much he sees or how. But the last time it happened, the demotion happened before any other wardens even knew he'd done anything.
