No, but he's never had a bad thing to say to me.

No. But he didn't think he was going to die when somebody almost killed him right in front of me.

So it ain't so much about what he'd think of you, it's about what you'd think of yourself. Right?

It's about what he needs from me. To stay me.

We make sure we're both safe.

Well... when the guy hurt him, you weren't here. And he ain't here right now. So I don't think you failed at keeping him safe, and if you don't want to go after somebody, that ain't failing either.

I don't know if I was. I've been here before.

Maybe it was. But he'd have said something to me if I'd gotten back at him.

But, I mean... you ain't obligated to worry about what she did. Unless you really want to, I guess, but it sounds like you're just making yourself feel guilty.

Maybe I am. But it keeps happening. It almost did once that I saw.

Not the whole story. Just he almost died in front of me, and I couldn't get him out of the way.

It makes you feel powerless. Useless. And I can tell you that you're not, 'cause I don't think you are, but maybe that won't change how you feel.

I don't know if killing the guy would change how you feel either, though.

I can't go back and undo it. But he's still acting like he got away with something.
