It's too late, she already has 'em. Unless someone requests them taken away and the Admiral says yes.

[and here beyond feels conflicted. he thinks about how the admiral has taken his own power away, the special sight he was born with that told him the name and lifespan of every living person he ever met, how unsettled and incomplete he's felt without it these past couple of weeks.

but his power isn't destructive. never mind that he used it to orchestrate three murders; it's not the same, not in his mind, not at all. the three victims he chose were fated to die on the days he took their lives. he drugged each one so they wouldn't suffer. not at all like disemboweling someone while they're aware of what's happening.]

Do you think that would be better, given her recent history, if someone did?

I think... it's hard for me to make decisions like that, 'cause I don't know what it's like having powers. And I don't know her well at all.

I think I should talk to the people who are visiting her, to see what they think.

[recinerate]

I think that would be wise, Tiffany.

[tucky]

I'm glad you think that.

That ain't why I'm doing it, but I'm still glad.

[recinerate]

[he nods.]

There are other people who care for you, Tiffany. [so he'd heard from omar.] They would be very unhappy if something happened to you again.

I know that. But I still gotta do what I think I gotta do.

[recinerate]

Then I suppose they will have to accept that.

[tucky]

I'm not gonna be reckless. I'm gonna try, anyway. But I'm not gonna hide from everything dangerous all the time, neither.

[recinerate]

I understand, Tiffany. You'll do what you think is best.

[tucky]

I feel like you're judging me.

[recinerate]

I'm trying to see it your way.

And I think I see it your way, too. 'Cause I feel the same way, when people I care about are in trouble.

I just hope you can take more care in the future, Tiffany.

[BECAUSE HE CARES, OK. he can't yet put his finger on it, so he can't admit it even to himself, but it is the truth. he cares.]

I can't talk much about the future until it happens.

[and that? that actually makes him laugh, quietly, very briefly, but it's definitely there - a laugh, and a tiny trace of a smile.]
