Good. So you know about this group of angels who got frustrated with God and argued, then ended up damned.

It sounds so cut and dried when people tell the story. You've got delinquents who started a fight and got kicked out. No one stops to put it in perspective. Humans pick fights and rebel against God all the time, and not all angels are of mercy if you get my drift.

A few angels start some trouble in Heaven and that's it, they're fucked forever. No chance of forgiveness or reprieve, just eternal suffering for being ornery one time. No one had ever gotten a punishment before then, and no one's gotten a worse one since.

Maybe I'm an enemy of God, but it's not my first bloody choice.

[He bitterly motioned to the communicator.] This is why I wanted it off.

[She isn't sure if he'll believe her, but she does mean it.]

God is loving, and he's all about second chances - that's what I learned from the religious folks here. I don't get why he wouldn't let his fallen angels get one, too.

[He stares at her for a long while, half-scrutinizing, half sadly. Then he reaches out his hand for hers with a frown. No matter how ancient you are, no matter how eternal in the face of a human, sometimes you just need someone to hold your hand.]

That's more the Son than Him. [The capitals are clearly audible the way Crowley speaks them.] And He doesn't, don't ask me why.

[She looks at his hand - then, slowly (but not reluctantly), she takes it in her own.]

I love them both. God and Jesus.

[Crowley squeezes her hand gently, briefly, before withdrawing it to take his cigarette.]

I'm more mad about the warden thing than the demon thing. You were laughing at me. I don't like people laughing at me or looking down on me or making me into a joke.

[He nods and spreads his arms.]

[She gets up and goes over to him, wrapping her arms around him tightly and curling up close against his side.]

Well, I don't like jokes like that. They make me feel stupid.

[He half-pulls her into the chair. It's a bit awkward but since when should that stop a hug?]

Demon. That's sort of my job. [He considers for a long while.] But I suppose I could throw you a hint when I'm not being entirely honest.

[She gives no fucks about awkward. She's tiny, so it's not hard to fold herself into the space between him and the chair's arm.]

You're a warden. You can't be lying to your inmate. Or any inmate.

[And Crowley is too lanky for his own good, therefore there's ample space to fold onto his legs as well.]

Not even if they ask about my collection of antique chamberpots? [...He's probably kidding.]

I wanna be honest about who I am and why I'm here, especially to inmates. Maybe it'll help people, knowing someone who's fucked up like me still got to graduate and become a warden.
