[Mason blinks, but allows Tiffany to pull him closer, falling to the floor next to her]

[She touches two fingers to his cheek to turn his head in her direction, then leans in to kiss him, soft and gentle and sweet. After a short time she draws back just barely, her nose bumping against his.]

I do not want to kiss anyone else like that.

So calm the fuck down, okay?

[Mason hesitates, before giving a goofy smile, wrapping his arm around Tiffany]

...Sorry. I know, I oughtn't be jealous.

Mm, yeah. Probably not.

[She leans into him.]

But it means you like me, right?

[He grins, and wraps both arms around her now]

Means I like you quite a lot.

[Hallway snuggles are truly the classiest of Barge activities.]

Tons. I got brothers, guy friends, had boyfriends. I was poor too, you know. I never lived in nice places, or hung around people who did. But you got a lot going for you; it ain't just about what your room looks like. It's other people's loss if they don't see that.

Sleeping with someone's really the furthest you've gone, though? You never had girlfriends or anything? ... You weren't a virgin, were you?

But that's a real good reason why you shouldn't get all mad about me flirting with other guys, you know? You can't not like me in a real, actual dating way, but also not want me to even think about ever going for anyone else.

[And even though she's been warned more than once that no good can come out of an arrangement like this when one person's feelings run deeper - even though she does see some truth to those warnings - she stubbornly pushes those thoughts out of her head and settles back against Mason, enjoying the feeling of his arms around her. So she might end up getting hurt. She also might not. She might end up getting over her feelings and then everything will be great.

Either way, she's never been much for worrying about the future, and she's convincing herself (mostly successfully) that now isn't the time to start.]
