Hey, y'all. I been thinking about some stuff lately - about powers. I don't have any and I never did, except for Admiral powers and except for one time when I thought I had some of my own - but that's another story.

They're just kinda all over the place here, I noticed. Arthas had his, and he tried to kill the whole Barge. And I know wardens hurt people with their powers sometimes. I've seen it. And we got inmates who don't have any powers at all, but still hurt and kill people. It's like I was telling someone earlier - it ain't like the Barge is safe when inmates have powers, and dangerous when they don't. It's a lot more complicated than that.

I got two inmates I been talking to, Lourdes and Pietro - and they want their powers back 'cause they don't feel right and whole without 'em. And I don't blame 'em, if I'm gonna be real honest. I maybe would have, before I was a warden, but now I got a different perspective. We're letting parts of people be locked away, and how's anyone supposed to trust us if we do that and don't care?

But maybe it ain't right to just give 'em back without thinking about it, neither - 'cause some of the powers are dangerous, and all of us'd be affected if something happened. So we decided that since they don't got wardens of their own, we're gonna talk to the whole Barge about it and see if any of y'all got objections. Or-- or questions or concerns. Stuff like that.

Pietro's got super speed, and super senses so he can see things okay when he's using his super speed. Lourdes can control people's bodies, and their minds, and even the chemicals inside 'em. Now, that's a whole fucking lot - so she's mostly what I wanna talk about today, I guess. We got Iris and Jean and all those guys who can protect people from stuff like that, but it can still be dangerous. So we're asking you.

Everybody gets a say.

I'm giving Lourdes her powers back - but only when she's in the Enclosure with me. Now, I don't think she's gonna hurt me - but if she does, I don't want any of y'all hurting her back, okay? I ain't saying no punishment, or no being mad. Just no torturing or murdering or nothing. Thanks.

[Tiffany rolls over to lie next to her, though not close enough that they're touching. This Enclosure idea is a solution, but she knows that for Lourdes, it's not at all an ideal one.]

Because I don't really understand you.

You wanna know a secret? I don't understand myself sometimes. I'm still figuring out myself.

[Despite herself, she smiles a little at this.]

Yeah?

Yeah. And not just as a warden, neither. As a person. So sometimes I'm a little scared of me too, I guess. I'm scared of getting an inmate, 'cause I know I'm gonna fuck up sometimes, and I'm scared I'm gonna fuck it up for them.

And I'm kinda scared of getting an inmate like Arthas or Sylvanas - someone who's gonna want to hurt and kill me. But I guess that's selfish, feeling that way. They deserve good wardens, too.

[She looks at Tiffany levelly.]

They tried to kill the whole Barge once. We got a lot of dangerous people here, Lourdes.

I know. I'm one of them.

spam; I was v. pissed YOU MEAN I COULD HAVE BEEN GETTING LOURDES TAGS THIS WHOLE TIME

Right. But you ain't the only one. And maybe you like me, but they don't. They really, really don't.

I'm telling you that if they try to hurt you, I'll hurt them worse.

[You can't, she almost says, before she thinks better of it and holds back. Lourdes already knows she won't have her powers; saying it again would just be rubbing it in.]

Wardens kinda have to expect that some inmates are gonna try to hurt 'em sometimes.

I'm not a warden. I don't have to accept anything.

I know. But I'm saying I can't, like, ask you to get revenge for me or nothing. I wouldn't want revenge. Or... maybe I would, but I can't get it.

If a warden hurts or is nasty to you, though, will you tell me? Especially if it's 'cause of your powers, or 'cause of this whole Enclosure deal we got going on.

[She does mostly trust her friends to respectful of her wishes regarding this, but a lot of them have hot tempers. If something went wrong, she knows there are people that would be very, very angry - and even if everything continues to go right, there are people who might want to give Lourdes forceful warnings to keep it that way. She can easily picture someone like Cain giving Lourdes an If you ever hurt her... speech.]

[She's quiet for a moment, watching Tiffany carefully. This seems like a lot to offer, and Lourdes still doesn't entirely trust it.]

You want me to tattle to you?

Mm.

[It's a good point. Prison has made her completely understand people not wanting to snitch (though she'd done it anyway in Litchfield on certain occasions, when she'd felt particularly vindictive, and she'd done it on the Barge a few times). And now, as a general rule, she makes a point of not tattling on inmates to other wardens. But this is different.]

Just with wardens. That ain't snitching. I mean, if an inmate bugs you and you wanna tell me, I'll listen. You can tell me whatever you want. But wardens got a responsibility for good behavior, and they ain't supposed to be treating you bad or threatening you at all. But it still happens sometimes.

What if they try to hurt me?

I'd punch 'em in the face.

[She is... pretty sure she's serious about this.]

If a warden was threatening you, they'd be way out of line, so why not be out of line back?

You worried about wardens bugging you? Or anybody?

A lot of people hate me for what I can do.

[She gives Tiffany a sarcastic look.]
